WILBER, Neb. (AP) — Authorities continue to investigate the death of a woman whose vehicle plunged into a reservoir near Wilber in southeast Nebraska.
The woman’s name and the cause of death have not been released.
Wilber Police Chief Stephen Sunday and some other officers swam out to the sport utility vehicle Thursday morning and pulled the woman out. The reservoir sits near Wilber-Clatonia High School.
Officials say they suspect that a medical condition may have caused the crash.
Sunday said that before the incident, the SUV stopped in a private drive near the dam road. He said the SUV then accelerated across the dam road, over the side of the dam and into the water.
