COUNCIL BLUFFS — The MICAH House, an emergency family shelter, has been nominated for a Freedom Award for its support of employees involved with the National Guard and Reserve.
“We're being identified as a patriotic employer by supporting our employees who are involved in the Guard,” said Lisa Emken, the shelter's public support director.
The award is presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an agency for the U.S. Department of Defense. It is the government's highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. MICAH House was nominated by longtime employee Dianne Rose, who is both a wife and mother of several Guard soldiers, Emken said.
“It is a reflection of our leadership, dedication and relationship with our employees, and we are honored to be considered for such a prestigious award,” she said.
