A list of restaurants and stores open today
Thanksgiving holiday closings
State, county and city offices and courtrooms will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Here is the schedule for other services:

Mail: No delivery Thursday. Regular delivery Friday.

Parking meters: Payment not required at Omaha meters on Thursday. Payment required on Friday.

Garbage: No pickup in Omaha and Council Bluffs on Thursday. Regular Thursday collections will be made Friday, and Friday's scheduled pickups will occur on Saturday.

Newspaper: Morning paper for all subscribers on Thursday or Friday; weekend and Sunday-only subscribers also get a morning paper both days.

Utilities: MUD, OPPD and MidAmerican Energy offices closed Thursday and Friday.

Metro buses: No service Thursday. Regular schedule on Friday.

Public libraries: Closed on Thursday. On Friday, closed in Omaha, Bellevue, Ralston, Gretna La Vist and Papillion. Open in Council Bluffs Friday.

Lots of readers have asked for a list of restaurants open Thanksgiving Day, and here's what we have so far.

Jerico's, 11732 West Dodge Road, is open from noon to 9 p.m. The restaurant will serve its full menu along with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner including turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, choice of salad or chicken noodle soup and a slice of pumpkin pie. The Thanksgiving meal is $16.99 for adults and $10.99 for children. Reservations are recommended; call 402-496-0222.

Granite City Brewery, 1001 N. 102nd St. will serve a limited menu of appetizers, pizzas and burgers from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving. For more information, call 402-393-5000.

Mimi's Cafe, 301 N. 175th Plaza, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Breakfast service from the regular menu runs until 11 a.m. Starting at 10:30 a.m. diners can get a special Thanksgiving menu that includes a choice of soup or salad, turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, carrots or broccoli, cranberry relish and dessert, which is either bread pudding or pumpkin pie. The Thanksgiving meal is $15.99 for adults and $8.99 for children. For more information, call 402-289-9610.

Liberty Tavern, at the Hilton Omaha downtown, is serving an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving buffet. The $29 deal includes turkey, ham, lamb, prime rib, shrimp cocktail, sides, desserts and a chocolate fondue fountain. Reservations are recommended. The restaurant is at 1001 Cass St. Call 402-998-4321 for information.

Johnny's Cafe, 4702 S. 27th St., is serving a fixed menu on Thanksgiving Day. The traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings is $17.95, an 11-ounce prime rib dinner is $21.95, an 18-ounce prime rib dinner is $28.95 and a salmon dinner is $18.95. Kids under 12 eat for $7.95. The restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m. The latest reservation they accept is at 4:30 p.m. Johnny's closes at 5 p.m. Reservations are suggested. One location of the China Buffet Mongolian Grill, 737 N. 114th St., is open Thanksgiving from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The restaurant's two other metro locations are closed. For more information, call 402-498-3868.

Cracker Barrel locations start serving Thanksgiving dinner at 11 a.m. The meal is $8.99 for adults and $4.69 for children. The restaurant also offers a to-go Thanksgiving meal that serves six and is $54.99. There are two Cracker Barrel locations in the metro: 530 30th Ave. in Council Bluffs and 9409 S. 142nd St. in Omaha.

The Bread Oven French Bakery will be open Thanksgiving Day.

The bakery's 119th and Pacific Street location will be selling bread, rolls, croissants and pastries for take-out from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Loose Moose Bar and Grill will open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and will be serving its full menu along with $1 domestic pints. Live acoustic music begins at 9 p.m. The restaurant is at 4915 N. 120th St.

Quaker Steak and Lube, in Council Bluffs, is open Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be serving a Thanksgiving Buffet that will include turkey, ham, sides and desserts.

Happy hour specials will run all day and include $2.75 bottles, half off appetizers, $4 margaritas, $1 off wells and drafts and $2 off domestic Lube Tubes.

On Black Friday, the restaurant will serve all you can eat wings for $12.95 along with happy hour specials.

Village Inn will have all of its Omaha and Council Bluffs restaurants open for business on Thanksgiving Day. They'll be serving their regular menu, as well as a "holiday" menu.

Jack and Mary's Restaurant, 655 N. 114th St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be serving a limited menu. For $14.95 each, diners can choose from turkey, prime rib, ham or a four piece fried or grilled chicken with sides. The final seating will take place at 6 p.m. For more information or a reservation, call 402-496-2090.

Legends Patio Grill and Bar, at 6910 N. 102nd Cir., will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant will serve an open-faced turkey sandwich dinner with sides. For more information, call 402-884-1006.

Peachwave Yogurt in the L Street Marketplace off 120th and L Streets is open Thanksgiving day from 2-10 p.m. The shop will be serving holiday special flavors including mint chocolate, egg nog, peppermint candy and gingerbread, along with vanilla, chocolate, cupcake, pineapple, raspberry and others.

The Big Red Restaurant and Sports Bar at 8100 Cass St. will be open for dinner from 5 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving Day.
