Handmade Holidays, Day 21: Easy potpourri is low on heat but high on holiday scent

See more crafts in the Handmade Holidays series.

This all-natural potpourri couldn't be easier to assemble — and the scent couldn't be more reminiscent of the holidays. Everything can be found in the grocery store, and by packaging up the ingredients you have an easy and sweet-smelling gift.

1 orange

½ cup cranberries

1 tablespoon whole cloves

3 sticks of cinnamon

A bit of grated nutmeg, optional

Quarter the orange and put all of the ingredients in a small saucepan.

Fill the pan with water. Place on the smallest burner of the stove on the lowest setting.

Refill the water as needed.

Tip: Don't let the water completely evaporate. It's a good idea to always refill the water when you turn on the heat. One mix will last for weeks; despite its appearance, it will still give off a lovely scent.
