Take a page...

This week’s Take a Page patron is Alice Cruz from the Elkhorn Library, 2100 Reading Plaza. Cruz is originally from Arizona, but grew up in Ohio, and has lived in Omaha for 18 years. She moved here because of a job transfer. Cruz now works from home as a quilter. She uses the Omaha Public Library for its selection of books and audio books. She typically enjoys historical fiction, mysteries and thrillers.

Cruz’s recommended reads:

1. “Peony in Love” by Lisa See

“I read this book after a trip to China and found it was a fascinating look at Chinese culture and a love story.”

2. “Defending Jacob” by William Landay

“This is the story of a parent whose child is accused of murder — a situation I could never imagine.”

3. “Ghost Hero” by S.J. Rozan

“This is the story of a strong woman who deals every day with being pulled in opposite directions.”

4. “In the Courts of the Sun” by Brian D’Amato

“This is a wonderful combination of Mayan history and technology (a sort of time travel).”

5. “Left for Dead” by J.A. Jance

“Reading Jance’s novels allows me to revisit many places in Arizona.”
